When she is pulled into a paranormal investigation, and tempted by a powerful and handsome sorcerer, she will have to decide where she truly belongs.

About the Author

Award-winning author Christine Amsden has written stories since she was eight, always with a touch of the strange or unusual. She became a “serious” writer in 2003, after attending a boot camp with Orson Scott Card. She finished Touch of Fate shortly afterward, then penned The Immortality Virus, which won two awards. Expect many more titles by this up-and-coming author.

~Guest Post ~ The Paranormal in Cassie Scot:
The magic in Cassie Scot is what I call nebulous. I created a world in which the magic users themselves can't even agree on exactly how the magic works. Secrecy has always been important in power games, so why would the most powerful people in the world deign to compare notes? Information usually passes down from father to son, and because of that there is a lot of confusion and misinformation.

There also isn't a large-scale magical oversight committee, although a group is trying to form one. The sorcerers in this book prefer independence.

There are magical creatures in this world such as vampires and werewolves, but they aren't that important. I went old-school on those creatures, taking vampires back to Stoker and werewolves back to the lunar cycle. I consider them to be something of a backdrop. Magical creatures are popular these days but Cassie's father relays a sentiment that I wholeheartedly embrace:

“There is nothing so evil in this world as what humans can do to one another.”
