These are Jocylene Sanders’ top priorities as she enters her sophomore year of college. The last thing she expects is to find herself the champion of an entire kingdom. However, that is just what happens when the mysterious Faerie, Rothatin Longspear, appears to her, tasking her with saving a parallel world full of creatures from her wildest dreams.

Jocylene journeys with him into the world of Fallada, hoping for answers about her birth parents and background. What she finds is a mystifying past, and an even more uncertain future, as her heart becomes entangled with the stoic, battle-hardened Rothatin, as well as Eli, the untroubled Panther Shifter with no loyalties and no home. The Lonely Hunter

His name is Eliandes; but you can just call him Eli. Like the black jungle cat whose form he can assume, he is a solitary creature; hunting, living, and navigating the world around him completely alone. He likes it that way.

“Panthers don’t run in packs, sweetheart. I’m a solitary creature and I like being alone. When you’re alone, no one can hurt you. When you’re selfish, the only person you have to please is yourself.”

When the creatures of the mystical parallel world of Fallada begin choosing sides in a battle between good and evil, the Shifter is reluctant to find his side of the battle lines when self-preservation is the ethos of his life.

“When one fights alone, one does not have to worry that his own brother might stick a knife in his back. I’ll take my chances alone, thank you.”

Laid back, carefree, arrogant, and—like all Shifters—very often shirtless … But don’t let his soft purr fool you. Eli is one fierce fighter and isn’t opposed to baring his teeth and claws to fight for something he holds dear, which he just might find in Jocylene, a warrior princess with a heart of gold and a fierce devotion to her cause. Has he found his match in her? Or will he lose her to the arrogant general of the Faerie Army, a male with all the qualities that Eli lacks?

“Is it true what they say about you, Eliandes?” she countered, opting not to answer his question, but pose one of her own. “That you have no loyalties?”
He laughed and Jocylene shivered at the feel of that voice slipping up and down her spine like a caress. She could practically feel his stubbled cheek brushing against hers in the darkness and she tried with all her might not to wonder if he was naked. He was talking to her, so he had to be in his human form.
“Call me Eli,” he said softly. The soft glow of his eyes brightened in the darkness and she could see the outline of his facial features perfectly. “And in answer to your question … well, let’s just say I think I may be coming around.”
“Why?” she asked, unable to snatch her gaze away from his amber stare. “Why now?”
“I should think that answer was obvious,” he said, a hint of a smile pulling at his mouth.
Jocylene scoffed. “You can’t mean you’re doing this because of me; that would be ridiculous, you barely know me.”
He smiled again, tweaking her on the nose playfully. “Ah, see that’s where you’re wrong. I think I know you better than he does.”
